Specialties: Abstract Artwork, Pattern Design, Illustration Artwork, and Landscape Painting.

Mediums: Bleach Art (typically on dyed canvas or black paper), Oil Paint, Encaustic, Watercolors, Ink, Mixed Media, and Procreate.

How do Commissions work?

Art Commission Process:

• Email or Message J.M. Elam with a date and time request to schedule your consultation appointment. (scroll to the bottom if you’re ready for the appointment request form).
• The next step is the consultation. Here’s what you need to know.
  • The consultation is FREE.
  • A consultation is not a commitment.
  • Consultations can take place in person or via video chat.
  • Consultations take an average of 15-30 minutes.
  • Be prepared to provide three images of J.M. Elam’s work that made you want to commission custom art. Check out this Art Portfolio.
  • You’ll receive a quote during the appointment if J.M. Elam can accept your commission. If there are details to iron out first, you can schedule a follow-up appointment.

• When you’re ready to move forward, here’s what you need to know about payments and pricing.
  • Pricing for a single painting or drawing is based on size plus a $50.00 new design fee. (Additional tax and shipping will be added where applicable.)
    • Bookmark Commissions cost $15.00 per bookmark. Five bookmark minimum. (plus applicable tax and shipping)
      • Book illustrations, and other design work are priced differently. Please feel free to contact J.M. Elam for more information, or discuss it during your consultation.
  • Commissions are excluded from sales or coupons.
  • The non-refundable downpayment is half of the total balance and is due before J.M. Elam begins the commission
  • The remaining balance is due before delivery or shipping. (payment plans are available.)
  • Commission payments are non-refundable. Please also see the Terms and Conditions.
  • J.M. Elam can accept PayPal, Venmo, and some credit cards for commission payments (payment plans are by credit card only). Checks are not accepted.
• Now comes the fun part. You relax.
  • Your painting will be delivered or shipped according to the commission agreement.
• J.M. Elam retains all rights in perpetuity to reproduce the images in any print format (unless otherwise determined in the commission agreement) and share the artwork electronically (including but not limited to social media and portfolio).
